ASUU denies plan to call off strike

22/01/2012 23:01:00

LAGOS, - The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) today denies debunked plans to call off the ongoing strike it embarked upon following announcement by the Education Minister, Professor Rakayat Rufai that the body will call off the ongoing strike on Monday.

ASUU chairman in the University of Ibadan, Dr. Olusegun Ajiboye told reporters that the strike action is indefinite and total. He condemned the announcement by the Education Minister that the strike would be called off on Monday as a falsehood and misleading.

Professor Ajiboye explained to journalists that the organisation will not call of its strike until the demands of the union are fully met and implemented by the Federal Government.

“There is no retreat, no surrender, until the FGN do the needful with regards to the implementation of that agreement. That ASUU will be willing to call off its strike immediately Government shows signs of seriousness in the implementation of the 2009 agreement.”

He added that it is unfair, irresponsible and unacceptable that such a vital important agreement which was reached by both parties in 2009 is yet to be implemented as of today.

ASUU is currently on a nationwide strike after an initial one week warning strike last November for which the union demands that the Federal Government implements the agreement it reached with the educational body in 2009.

He called on parents not to allow their wards leave for schools so as not to face the risk of dangers involved in road travelling throughout the country

Story! Part 1..The Meet!

Cindy takes her fone out and dials a number, the phone rings *ring ring* *ring ring*..the conversation goes… Cindy: Where are you? Stephan: Infront of my house. Cindy: No your not, i just passed your house nobody was in front. Seriously where are you, I came to NAU because of you don’t stand me up. Stephan: i just went across the street to get something i’ll be there in a second. Cindy: ok!…*hangs up* Cindy goes beyond the house to buy some snacks, on her way back she sees 3 very tall guys resting on a car in front of stephan’s house…because of her myopia she squints to try and make out the shapes of the bodies and recognizes Stan, her long time friend she has known all her life on one end. On the other Steve, also a friend she knew while she was a kid, then she figured it out…the third should be Stephan, the third friend she hadn’t seen for 5years, the third friend she spoke with night and day when he left for another school, the third friend she lost contact with for 3 of those 5 years…the third friend she came to see! As she got to the guys she avoided eye contact with stephan, she saw that he had grown, he wasn’t the little boy that sang coldplay songs when she passed the halls anymore, he wasn’t a man yet either but he sure looked like one. He had broad shoulders, huge muscles and the sun complemented his chocolate skin..He was the most handsome amongst the three so far she was concerned, and as she hug them all she still avoided his eyes until…he said… Stephan: Your so beautiful and cute!! Don’t worry you’l grow taller soon *grinning* Immediately she looked straight into his eyes and when she did..she saw his staring straight into hers and at that instant she felt as if a key has bin put into a lock and that it was a perfect match!…so did he….to be contd

Ordinary yet Special

I woke late today, tanks to my late night reading but it was worth it at least i think it was because today i just thought ‘What the hell?’ Why is ASUU on strike? I need lecturers in my life explaining to me the details of electromagnetic waves, giving me test on various feature story ideas and pissing me off by not speaking loud and clearly in Jurisprudence and International Law class amongst others. I fear for my results and just as my friend jumoke wrote on her pm today ‘When I think about my exams I get cold feet’…Sometimes I wonder why I fought so hard to enter public school in the 1st place, then i remembered …”Freedom,Experience and Exposure”..and with this I also remembered my private secondary school..so efficient, so on track. I loved that. #aboutthefuelsubsidy - this has given nigerians the opportunity to be creative and crack massive jokes…I can’t tell you how many jokes I’v heard ever since this heartbreaking news came out…Funny yet creative display pictures were put and Yes! they were all funny..I dint even see 1 update on my phone that said ‘En Route’..lol. All my eldest brother did today was crack jokes about it, he was in a happy mood today because today which is the 2nd of january is his birthday.*yay him*, but for me it was just another ordinary day. I woke up, cleaned up, studied å lil and that’s it….typical me huh?…

Happy new year to you all that made it through to 2012..If you notice, life is a journey, we win some and we lose some but i don’t think it matters cause at the end of it all we are alive and healthy. You see today for me felt like another day in another month but with a clean slate, meaning i get an opportunity to do things different this time and i think I’m gonna take that offer up and get a renovation in my life.

I went to church today and the pastor was talking about testimonies and getting more in life and i thought to my self “did i have any testimonies last year?” well the answer is i cant remember…i hardly take these things in consideration but as i said before , new year!..

I also exhibited a habit i told my self i was going to leave behind with the year 2011 “too much sleep” i couldn’t believe it but i just couldn’t cope i was about to faint for crying out loud but no more!! from now on…i do things differently…

Happy new year to you all…Enjoy the ride!!

theinexplicablecat:

Relationships fall and whither because eventually someone stops trying and it doesn’t feel the same. The first couple of months or even years it may be the best thing you ever wished for, but eventually someone loses feelings, gets to busy, or doesn’t even bother to try. You know what? Because they’re comfortable. The beginning is all about the chase. Can you keep up? If you can then you’ll get the hang of it and then you won’t want to try anymore. You aren’t afraid to lose them because they’re yours. Arguing leads to fighting and it just gets worse from there. It all flashes by so fast. So, cherish what you have.
